If you like this post, please share in the comments: What is one medicine you carry?
One thing I believe:
Each of us has something the world needs. We carry medicines as diverse as life itself, born from our unique experiences, inheritances, and wisdom.1
For me, discovering these gifts has been a slow, nonlinear, ongoing process of discernment (try as I may to hurry it, and lord knows I have tried).
It is coming into port one day and heading out to sea the next, by turns clear and foggy, respite and adventure. I am lured this way and that by a faint, but steady drumbeat reminding me why and what for.
These medicines are not virtues, accomplishments, strengths or even skills. They are fleeting grace in the here and now. Offered and received.
Always, all ways, they are works in progress—incomplete offerings with imperfect attendance, full of rough edges, moving too slow and also coming in a little hot, hampered by my ego and a million silly vanities, awkward, emerging, way too much yet never enough, in fits and starts, kicking and screaming, in need of a good proofing and a good night’s sleep—but work and progress, all the same.
I’ll take it.
🖤
I’d love to hear, what medicines do you carry? What counter-poisons are brewing in your cauldrons right now?
