1. A creator is…
I like Josh Spector’s definition of “creator.” It isn’t pretentious, it can encompass a wide range of activity, and it does not wait for external validation.
2. Compassion fatigue
Compassion fatigue is a kind of burnout, in which caring professionals find it difficult to access their usual empathy for clients, patients, and teams. It can occur over time or rapidly, in response to secondary trauma. If this sounds familiar, please know that compassion fatigue is an indicator of stress, not flawed character or a permanent state. You can work through it. And you are definitely not alone. Learn more here.
3. Mushroom suits
October is an excellent time for practicing memento mori. I’ll be sharing a death education feature each week this month.
Up this week: what happens after we die. I can’t answer that question, but I’ll give you the next best thing. Here’s a 101 on green burial, including options like green cemeteries, eco-friendly caskets, and this awesome mushroom suit.👇🏼
4. Circles around the sun
Yesterday I turned 44. Thank you for traveling with me last year! To join the birthday bash, cue up this 20-min jam.1 I hope it will fuel a wildly creative session of work or play for you.
